I went to Holland on vacation about 2 month ago and I had trouble doing some work over the 9 hour timezone difference, so I am wondering how do you make that work?

I work from Spain for a San Francisco company, also 9h difference. And I have worked for an Argentinian company in the past (6h diff).

TL;DR: it's hard

I leave you some tips derived from my experiences:

start late, overseas meetings as last task (from Europe p.o.v.)
prioritize async communication
have work buffer to avoid blocks
plan and divide work optimizing for team splits
have flexible schedule so people can intermingle work and non-work life
be very transparent about it during hiring

None of this is very surprising, but I leave this here just in case it helps you out anyone else.
